Data Center Capabilities

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has dramatically increased the global demand for data centers, particularly in Southeast Asia. As AI technology becomes more integrated across various industries, the need for robust data processing and storage solutions has surged. AI applications require substantial computational power and extensive data, propelling the expansion of data centers. This growth has driven innovations in data center design, energy efficiency, and scalability to accommodate AI-driven demands.
The current status of data center hubs in Southeast Asia:
-
Singapore: As an established central hub with over 70 data centers, Singapore faces land and energy constraints, causing hyperscalers to migrate to Malaysia.
-
Malaysia: Supported by favorable government policies and increasing cloud adoption, Malaysia has attracted over US$30 billion in data center investments recently. However, as of late 2024, the country has begun curbing data center growth to conserve its water and power resources.
-
Vietnam: Emerging as a key regional hub, Vietnam benefits from strong governmental support, and an abundance of land, power, and customers.
Saigon Asset Management (SAM) is at the forefront of data center investment, compliance, and development in Vietnam. We provide a comprehensive solution for hyperscalers and data center providers to co-invest in Tier III and above AI data centers in Vietnam. Our facilities include licenses, tax and equipment import incentives, redundant power supplies, cooling systems, network connections, and security measures to ensure continuous uptime with no single point of failure.
Our areas of expertise include:
Strategic Partnerships with Vietnam's Leading Telcos and Foreign Data Center Operators:
-
SAM collaborates with Vietnam's top telcos and data center operators, such as Viettel, VNPT, FPT, and CMC.
-
These local telcos serve international clients through various arrangements, including racks and floor leasing, licensing, connectivity, built-to-suit projects, joint ventures, and Business Collaboration Contracts (BCC).
-
SAM also partners with AI data center operators from Singapore and Malaysia to provide expertise in construction and operations.
Data Center Campus Development:
-
SAM is developing large-scale, comprehensive data center campuses/parks capable of housing multiple data centers, within an hour's drive from Ho Chi Minh City's central business district.
-
These campuses will offer end-to-end services for incoming hyperscalers, covering everything from fault-tolerant infrastructure to operational support.
-
As the local partner and co-investor, SAM adds value by securing suitable land zoned for data centers, obtaining necessary licenses, addressing energy requirements (both conventional and renewable), and ensuring efficient cooling systems, water supply, and carrier neutrality.
Vietnam Data Center Fund (VDCF):
-
Managed by SAM, this fund will invest a minority stake in incoming data centers within our campuses.
-
SAM welcomes strategic investors interested in becoming limited partners in our fund.
Domestic Customer Acquisition Support:
-
SAM assists incoming hyperscalers in acquiring domestic enterprise customers in key industries, including financial services, retail, real estate, healthcare, education, and airlines.
-
As a long-term equity investor in Vietnam, SAM has access to C-level executives in these industries through our extensive track record of investments over the past 15 years.
